What does not go into my Household Bin

 What material does not go into my Household Bin:

1. Medical Waste

2. Paint Cans, motor oil, wax or petroleum

3. Rocks, bricks and gravel

4. Electrical Goods - please recycle though WEEE

5. Hazardous Waste



What can I put in my Organic bin (Brown Lid)

Food Scraps:

  • Meat, Poultry, Fish
  • Shellfish & Bones                                                                            
  • Egg & Dairy Products
  • Plate Scrapings & Table Scraps
  • Fruit & Vegetables
  • Bread, Dough, Pasta & Grains/Cereals
  • Coffee Grounds, Filters & Tea Bags

 

Food Soiled Paper:

  • Kitchen Paper Towels
  • Paper Napkins
  • Compostable Plates & Cups

 

Garden Waste:

  • Plants & Flowers
  • Hedge Clippings  
  • Grass    

 

It is very important that you do not place any plastic bags into your organic waste bin as this causes contamination. If you would like to use bags for your organic material please ensure that they are compostable, these are available from most leading supermarkets and can also be purchased at www.recycleright.ie. Alternatively food waste can be placed in paper bags or wrapped in newspaper.

Remember we collect you organic waste every week and you don’t save any money by not putting it out, so use the bin as much as possible.

Please remember to only put organic waste into your brown lidded bin.

Please ensure that all items are clean & dry.

Plastic:

  • Plastic Drink Bottles
  • Plastic Milk/Juice Containers                                                      
  • Shampoo Bottles
  • Other Plastic Containers
  • Plastic Wrapping 

 

Metal:

  • Aluminium Cans
  • Steel Cans

 

Paper & Cardboard:

  • Newspapers/Magazines
  • Telephone Directories
  • Junk Mail/Catalogues
  • Printing/Writing Paper
  • Paper Bags Including Shopping Bags
  • Cereal Boxes/Biscuit Boxes
  • Cardboard Packaging
  • Toilet Roll Inserts
  • Washing Tablet Boxes
  • Frozen Food Boxes
  • Tetra Packs

Remember you don’t save any money by not putting your recycling bin out for collection, so use it as much as possible.

Please remember to only put recyclable material into your blue lidded bin.
